Tookie and the Roses is happy to bring you a repertoire of classic party hits and beloved rarities, using our multi-instrumentalist backgrounds in a constant quest to capture the sounds on the original records.
Over the course of a night, you’ll see and hear four musicians use all their instrumental skills and technological know-how to bring you saxophone and flute solos, three-keyboardist ’80s synth hits, eight-minute epics, and homages to Tom Petty, Alanis Morissette, and Dolly Parton.
At center stage we have the incomparable Tookie Rose, namesake of the group and sax/flute/guitar/keyboard player. She’ll tear her way through a Janis Joplin song and then soothe you with some Linda Ronstadt before tooting the flute on some Canned Heat.
To her left is Greg on bass, keyboard, and guitar. A vintage synth aficionado, he’s always working behind-the-scenes to get the synths to sound like the original tracks, and on stage he’ll belt out everything from Meat Loaf to AC/DC to Elvis Presley.
At stage right is Dave on guitar, bass, and keyboard – dedicated to the craft of guitar, he’s always pushing to find new techniques to emulate from the greatest players in rock, punk, indie, folk, bluegrass, and pop. He’ll steal the show singing any Tom Petty tune.
Gluing it all together with the sweet beats is Kenny, who can sing the low rumbles of Johnny Cash and the high falsettos of Eagles’ Don Henley while holding the rhythm on traditional and electronic percussion.
We’ve chosen some of our favorite songs from our favorite groups to showcase a little of everything over the course of an evening. Our hope is that you’ll hear some familiar tunes and some surprises and surely enjoy yourselves.
